Take care when creating a trust to benefit a minor child or other beneficiary where IRA benefits may become part of the trust assets, or where you have designated minor children as the outright beneficiaries of your IRA. You may need an IRA trust to protect those funds while preserving the potential tax benefits of the IRA.
